Product History
Product Description
From Maison Margiela’s Autumn/Winter 2019 collection, these ballerina Tabi flats reimagine the house’s iconic split-toe silhouette in magical gold sparkle leather, accented with a sculptural metallic bow for a touch of playful refinement. First introduced in 1989, the Tabi remains one of fashion’s most provocative designs, and this glittering iteration highlights the maison’s enduring ability to balance the avant-garde with wearability. In excellent second-hand condition with only minor sole scuffing, they arrive with their original box and dust bags, making them a rare and collectible example of Margiela’s subversive elegance.
About The Brand
Maison Margiela, formerly Maison Martin Margiela, is a French luxury fashion house headquartered in Paris and founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. Martin Margiela had been Jean Paul Gaultier’s design assistant in Paris, between 1984 and 1987. The house produces both haute couture-inspired artisanal collections and ready-to-wear collections, with the former influencing the designs of the latter. Product lines include women’s and men’s wear, fine jewellery, footwear, objects, fragrance, and home goods. Known for being deconstructive and avant-garde, designs would often reveal the garments’ structure, for example, intentionally exposed linings and seams and be constructed with unconventional materials. Margiela resigned as creative designer in 2009 and John Galliano was appointed to the role in 2014.
